On August 25, the “Sharing New Opportunities, Working Together into the Future” — Guangxi in the Eyes of International Media 2025 was officially launched in Chongzuo City, Guangxi. A total of 27 journalists from mainstream media outlets and international online influencers from ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore, visited Guangxi to experience its development firsthand and witness the fruitful achievements of China-ASEAN cooperation in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
The seven-day program is hosted by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and organized by the Guangxi Branch of China News Service.
Guangxi, China’s only province that shares both land and maritime borders with ASEAN, serves as a frontier and gateway for China-ASEAN cooperation and exchanges. Leveraging its geographical advantages, abundant resources, and development potential, Guangxi is actively building an AI industry ecosystem of “R&D in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou + integration in Guangxi + application in ASEAN.”
At the launch ceremony, Li Pan, Director of the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said Guangxi is a land brimming with charm, vitality, and potential. This journey adopts a mobile interview approach, taking us deep into Chongzuo, Nanning, and Liuzhou to experience the thriving momentum of China–Vietnam cross-border cooperation, witness the rapid growth of emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, and observe the innovative vitality of the industrial economy. Through this unique window of Guangxi, we can better appreciate the tremendous opportunities in China–ASEAN cooperation and development.

We look forward to your sharing Guangxi’s achievements, its sincerity in cooperation, its innovative dynamism, cultural appeal, and unwavering commitment to peaceful development with audiences across ASEAN and with people around the world through your keen observations, profound insights, and unique perspectives.
Wu Qingcai, member of the editorial board of China News Service and editor-in-chief of China News, noted that, standing at a new starting point for China-ASEAN cooperation, Guangxi is demonstrating the profound spirit of “working together into the future” through its practice of high-quality development. He expressed his hope that participating media representatives would use their unique perspectives as both witnesses and storytellers to vividly present Guangxi’s dynamic economic vitality and mutually beneficial cooperation to audiences in their home countries and around the world, helping global audiences gain a deeper understanding of a real, multi-dimensional, and evolving China through this vital window.
Ban Huaqin, a member of the Standing Committee and director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongzuo Municipal Committee, stated in his speech that Chongzuo is actively contributing to the construction of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future through high-quality development. The city is accelerating its integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, developing border industry clusters in electronic information and ASEAN specialty product processing, advancing the construction of the Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed railway, and promoting the China-Vietnam innovative port project. By empowering cross-border industrial chains with AI, Chongzuo aims to deliver greater development benefits to both China and the ASEAN region.

Larry Teo Meng Liang, a senior journalist at Singapore’s Fortune Times, remarked that China has achieved remarkable breakthroughs in fields such as artificial intelligence and new energy vehicles, which have garnered wide international attention. Under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, Singapore has established close ties with many provinces and regions in China. He added that during this trip, he hopes to observe and report on Guangxi’s tremendous transformation with the keen eye of a journalist.
According to the organizers, the reporting tour adopts an on-the-move format, with stops in Chongzuo, Nanning, and Liuzhou. Chongzuo, the first destination, is China’s most convenient land gateway to ASEAN. There, the group will visit China’s first cross-border tourism cooperation zone, the China-Vietnam Detian (Ban Gioc) Waterfall Cross-Border Tourism Cooperation Zone, as well as the Friendship Pass Smart Port and the China-ASEAN (Chongzuo) Fruit Trading Center, where they will experience unique border customs and the vitality of China-Vietnam cross-border cooperation.
In Nanning, the group will explore the modern international metropolis, learn about the rapid growth of emerging industries such as AI, and participate in the “China-ASEAN Dialogue of Media Professionals in the AI Era” to discuss AI-powered media innovation. In Liuzhou, they will witness the innovative dynamism of its industrial economy, visit historic sites related to the Flying Tigers, and revisit the shared history of global resistance against fascism during World War II, further consolidating media consensus on safeguarding regional peace and stability.
