Guangxi International Communication Centre established in China’s Nanning

China Correspondent: To fully implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC and build a more effective international communication system, the Guangxi International Communication Centre was inaugurated in Nanning on September 6 under the direct leadership of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of the Autonomous region. It was led by Guangxi Daily and jointly built by Guangxi Radio and Television.

Chen Yijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Director of the Publicity Department; Liu Weiling, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Daily; Yu Yunquan, Deputy Director of China Foreign Languages Administration; Zhang Lei, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China News Service; Akha Wengmenka, Director of Lao National Television; Xu Bo, President of Guangxi Daily and Director of Guangxi International Communication Centre; Consul General of six ASEAN countries in Nanning, Heads of media from ASEAN countries such as Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, as well as Hong Kong and Macao attended the event.

As the frontier and window of China’s opening up and cooperation with ASEAN, Guangxi plays an irreplaceable role in deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. In recent years, Guangxi has made full use of its unique advantages of geographical proximity, close friendship, and cultural affinity with ASEAN countries, constantly explored and innovated cooperation with the media of ASEAN countries, shared stories of good neighborliness and friendship between China and ASEAN and promoted people-to-people exchanges, cultural integration, and people-to-people exchanges between China and ASEAN.

China Daily and Guangxi have established a three-dimensional and diversified cooperation model to promote practical cooperation between China and ASEAN. Liu Weiling said China Daily would work with the Guangxi International Communication Centre to vividly tell the story of Guangxi’s efforts to build an essential strategic hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the story of Guangxi’s efforts to serve the construction of a China-ASEAN community of common destiny and a strategic China-Vietnam community of common destiny and interpret the practice of Chinese-style modernization in Guangxi.

Yu Yunquan believes that geographical advantages, natural resources, and booming culture are unique conditions for Guangxi to carry out international communication and will play a more crucial role in enhancing mutual understanding and deepening friendly cooperation between China and foreign countries. He said that the SVG and Guangxi would continue to carry out practical cooperation, help build the Guangxi International Communication Centre as a high-quality platform, and jointly build an international communication brand with influence, appeal, and affinity.

Zhang Lei said that China News Service and Guangxi would work together to actively publicize the results of Guangxi’s economic and social development, focus on Guangxi’s high-quality development, show the international community an accurate, three-dimensional and comprehensive Guangxi, and jointly create a new era and a new journey of national, international communication. “Lao National Television and Guangxi are partners and close friends,” Zhang said.

Akha Ongmenca said the two sides have carried out a lot of cooperation in media-related work and will continue to strengthen cooperation, seek new topics, stimulate innovation, enhance strength and improve capabilities, and achieve more fruitful results. He said that understanding lovely China from beautiful Guangxi is the goal of the Guangxi International Communication Centre. According to Xu Bo, the centre has made every effort to put together a three-pronged communication platform for “website channel + client channel + overseas social account matrix” and the brand of “Hello Guangxi”, promoting the formation of a diversified and multi-channel “chorus” of external publicity in Guangxi. He said that by creating high-quality content, accurate communication, training a talented team, and expanding sincere cooperation, the centre will tell China’s stories, spread the voice of Guangxi well, and present an accurate, three-dimensional, and comprehensive China with solid and practical work.

At the opening ceremony, the Publicity Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Daily and China News Service. The Guangxi International Communication Centre signed a memorandum of cooperation with foreign media organizations. The appointment letter was issued to the Guangxi International Communication expert and the Guangxi Communication Officer of Chinese Culture. To launch the 2024 interview activities for Chinese and foreign media to see the New Land and Sea Channel in the West, the communication action of “Opportunities for China to Strengthen Guangxi”, and the overseas travel activities of Meeting Lovely China and Magnificent Guangxi.

It is reported that the 2024 Chinese and Foreign Media Visit to the West Land and Sea New Channel and the “Opportunity China Great Guangxi” communication campaign will be jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee and the Guangxi Branch of China News Service. Significant media from ASEAN countries, heads of overseas Chinese media and journalists, and optimistic energy network experts will be invited to Nanning and Qinzhou of Guangxi for on-the-road interviews. The Century of Foreign Reporting Project is also the backbone of the new Land and Sea Corridor in the West, which is of great significance to the development of the entire southwest region of China and the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”. Meeting Lovely China and Magnificent Guangxi Overseas Travel activities will give full play to the positive role of culture in promoting people-to-people exchanges, support tourism, culture, education, media, publishing, sports, and other organizations to hold various cultural exchange activities, expand the breadth and depth of cultural exchanges and mutual learning, and promote Chinese culture to better enter ASEAN and the world.
