A Journey to Kunming: My First Experience Flying China Eastern Airlines from Bangladesh Sino-Bangla Sino-Bangla News Publish: 6:04 PM, December 5, 2025 Mohammad Saiyedul Islam: Travel has always been one of my greatest joys. Whether crossing oceans or flying between Chinese cities, every journey brings a new chapter of discovery. Over the years, I have travelled with several Chinese airlines—China Southern, Air China, Xiamen Airlines, and more. However, on my recent trip from Bangladesh to Kunming, I flew with China Eastern Airlines for the very first time. What began as a simple flight soon turned into a memorable travel experience, filled with comfort, warmth, and a unique connection between my two homes—Bangladesh and China. My journey began early in the morning at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The familiar bustle of travellers, airport announcements, and rolling suitcases created the usual travel atmosphere, yet I felt a special excitement. I was heading back to China, a country that has become deeply connected to my life, work, and memories. As I approached the China Eastern Airlines check-in counter, I immediately noticed the airline staff’s efficiency and friendliness. Their welcoming smiles made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. For a first-time flyer with the airline, the positive first impression mattered. After completing my formalities and crossing immigration, I arrived at the boarding gate. The China Eastern Airbus stood waiting outside the glass window, its red-and-blue logo shining proudly. It felt like a bridge connecting my birthplace to the country that had shaped so many of my academic and professional journeys. As boarding began, the crew greeted every passenger warmly. Their politeness and professionalism were noticeable from the very first moment. Once seated, I found the cabin clean, spacious, and comfortable. China Eastern’s interior design has a calming simplicity—soft lighting, neatly arranged seats, and an atmosphere that makes long journeys easier. As I settled into my window seat, I could not help but feel grateful. Travel teaches us how beautiful connection can be. Here I was, leaving Bangladesh, flying aboard a Chinese airline, on my way back to a province that has become like a second home. Soon, the aircraft taxied to the runway, and within moments, we lifted off. Dhaka’s landscape slowly faded beneath us, giving way to the endless sky. The flight attendants began their service shortly after take-off. I was impressed by their attentiveness—every detail seemed carefully managed, from offering water to ensuring everyone felt comfortable. Their professionalism reflected China Eastern’s reputation as one of China’s most reliable airlines. Meal service was one of the highlights of the journey. To my pleasant surprise, the food was flavourful, warm, and suited to international passengers. As someone who has travelled frequently across Asia, I appreciated the thoughtfulness behind the menu. While enjoying my meal, I glanced outside the window. Clouds floated like white cotton islands, and the afternoon sunlight lit them warmly. There is something magical about flying—how it frees the mind, inspires reflection, and reminds us of the vastness of our world. As the flight continued, I explored the in-flight entertainment options. China Eastern offered a collection of movies, dramas, and music. I watched a short documentary about Yunnan Province, and it felt symbolic—as if the airline were preparing me for the beauty awaiting in Kunming. Known as the “Spring City,” Kunming offers pleasant weather, green landscapes, and cultural diversity, making it a soothing destination. Throughout the journey, the crew checked on passengers regularly to ensure comfort and safety. Their quiet dedication impressed me. Travel is not just about moving from one place to another—it is also about human interaction. The smiles, the small gestures, the warmth of the cabin crew—all of these turn a simple flight into a memorable experience. After several hours in the air, the announcement finally came: we were preparing to land in Kunming. As the aircraft descended, the mountains and green plateau scenery of Yunnan came into view. The landscape looked peaceful from above—surrounded by nature, yet welcoming like a familiar friend. For anyone traveling to Kunming, this aerial view is the perfect introduction. Touching down at Kunming Changshui International Airport felt like returning to a place that holds countless personal and professional memories. I stepped out of the aircraft feeling happy. The journey had been smooth, relaxing, and perfectly timed. China Eastern Airlines gave me a positive first experience—one I will remember fondly. Travel stories are made not only from the destination but also from the journey itself. This flight reminded me of that truth. It strengthened the bridge between Bangladesh and China in my heart. It reminded me why I love traveling—because every journey brings new experiences, new friendships, and new insights into how beautifully connected our world is. My first flight from Bangladesh to Kunming with China Eastern Airlines was more than a simple trip. It was a warm, seamless, and memorable experience that blended comfort, hospitality, and cultural connection. As I walked out of the airport into the refreshing Kunming breeze, I knew one thing for sure—this was the beginning of another meaningful chapter in my travels across China.
