The first Hainan (Chengmai) Health and Longevity Forum and Health Care Industry Cooperation and Exchange Conference were held in China. On December 18, the program was held in China’s Chengmai city with the theme of “Promoting Health, Longevity, and the Development of Health Care Industry”.

Experts and scholars from all over the country discussed the development path of Hainan’s healthcare tourism. In recent years, Hainan has gathered the potential and advantages of developing the “health + tourism” industry, and many healthcare tourism projects and enterprises have sprung up like mushrooms after rain.

Gao Qiang, former Minister of the Ministry of Health, suggested that Hainan should carefully evaluate the current market situation of the healthcare industry, clarify whether there is a problem of insufficient supply or oversupply, and adequately balance the supply and demand relationship. For the operating conditions of hundreds of healthcare institutions, their vacancy rates or full capacity should be deeply analyzed, and at the same time, it should be examined whether the services provided truly meet market demand. In general, the healthcare industry is a diversified field that must meet the needs of people at different consumer levels, from high-end to mid-range to economy-class, and each company should conduct detailed research.

At the meeting, the “I take my parents on a health care tour” activity was officially launched. Gao Min, President of the Hainan Health and Wellness Tourism Association, introduced that the activity is aimed at the health and wellness tourism needs of the elderly and is carefully designed in multiple aspects such as culture, traditional Chinese medicine, physical therapy, and nutritional diet. More aging-friendly service items have been added to the traditional health and wellness tourism routes, and exclusive service packages have been formulated to provide personalized health and wellness tourism services for the elderly.

At the same time, at this forum, the Hainan Health and Wellness Tourism Association announced the establishment of the Health and Wellness Tourism City Alliance, and cities such as Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, Sichuan County, Ji’an City, Jiangxi Province, and Baokang County, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province joined the alliance. During the meeting, a tour release ceremony for three documents, “Health Industry Blue Book (2023)”, “Health and Wellness Travel Blue Book (2023)”, and “Forest Health and Wellness Blue Book”, was also held.

In recent years, the Hainan Health and Wellness Tourism Association has strengthened its ties with domestic and foreign health and wellness cultural and tourism cooperation units, promoted exchanges and cooperation between upstream and downstream enterprises in the health and wellness industry chain, and built a complete health and wellness service system. The influence of Hainan’s brand on health and wellness tourism is increasing.
