China Correspondent: In order to further strengthen the people-to-people bonds among countries along the Belt and Road, promote exchange and mutual learning of different civilizations, and continue to write a new chapter of people-to-people cultural exchanges and cooperation along the Silk Road, a forum on the exchange of civilizations held in China with the participation of Bangladeshi students.

On March 20 (Monday) afternoon, with the theme of “Contributing Youth Power and Promoting Civilization Dialogue”, the conference was held through the hybrid platform at the conference room of the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture in Beijing, China.

The conference is jointly hosted by China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE), China Volunteer Service Federation (CVF), and Beijing Belt and Road Cooperative Community. The forum is also supported by Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges and China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People.

Chen Zhou, Vice-Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee; Sun Zhijun, Executive Vice President of the China Volunteer Service Federation; Yuan Zhibing, Secretary-General of the Chinese Association for International Understanding; Deng Lijuan, Deputy Director of Bureau II of the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress and the Director of the Volunteer Service Promotion Center of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee; Li Xikui, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Vladimir Imamovich Norov, Former Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan and Former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation; Carlos Larrea, Ambassador of Ecuador to China; Xing Yue, Vice President of Alibaba Group; Michael Crook, Chairman of the International Committee for the Promotion of Chinese Industrial Cooperatives and many others spoke in the conference.

Chen Zhou said that the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping focuses on promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, promoting the progress of human civilization, injecting strong positive energy into promoting the process of human modernization, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The youth groups of the “Belt and Road” co-construction countries should use youth power to build bridges and unblock channels for cultural exchanges and mutual learning, use youth voices to resonate and promote the common values ​​​​of all mankind, youth wisdom builds consensus and promotes mutual understanding and friendship among people of all countries.

Participants spoke highly of the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, believing that the Global Civilization Initiative provides a Chinese solution for promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and promoting the progress of human civilization. The Global Civilization Initiative is another important public product that China provides to the international community in the new era after the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, and will create more benefits for people all over the world.

International students studying in China from various countries around the world, including Bangladesh, spoke at the conference about exchange and mutual learning between civilizations to make civilization rich and colorful, continuous human progress and promote world peace and development. Moreover, they jointly talked in-depth discussions on promoting mutual exchanges and ties between peoples of countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Youth representatives from participating countries issued the “Declaration on Action for the Silk Road Youth to Jointly Implement the Global Civilization Initiative” at the exchange meeting, expressing that they will actively respond to the global civilization initiative, act as envoys for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and gather youth wisdom and contribute to the construction of the “Silk Road of Civilization”.

About 300 representatives, including diplomatic envoys in China from countries along the Belt and Road, young diplomats, youth representatives, scholars, foreign students, and representatives of entrepreneurs, attended the conference on-site or via video.
