Sino-Bangla Desk: At least 49 people have been killed and more than 300 injured, after a fire tore through a container depot in southeastern Bangladesh over the weekend. Ambassador Lin Songtian, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is written a condolence and sympathy letter for those who are injured and died in a huge fire explosion at a container depot in Bangladesh.

In the letter he wrote, I am shocked to learn that a container depot in Bangladesh’s Chattogram Division caught fire followed by explosions on June 4, causing heavy casualties and property losses.

On behalf of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), I wish to extend our deep condolences to the victims of the accident and sincere sympathy to the injured and the bereaved families. May the deceased rest in peace and the injured have a speedy recovery.

China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors. At this sad moment of grief, we feel the same pain and stand firmly with the people of Bangladesh. The CPAFFC is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with BCCEMCC, join hands to meet risks and challenges, and build the Belt and Road Initiative with high quality, so as to promote win-win cooperation and common development between our two countries.

I wish Bangladesh prosperity and its people happiness and well-being!
